Tracey Reifler’s Bequest to Ensure Her Future Support for Walker’s

Tracey Reifler

When Tracey Reifler ’82 was a teenager in Los Angeles public schools, the classrooms were large. “I was not terribly engaged,” she says. “My parents offered me the opportunity to go east — and with a casual interest in riding, I explored and fell in love with Walker’s. When I was in my Walker’s classroom with eight to ten other people, it required me to be a more active participant in my education. I spoke up and, most important, I felt heard.”

Tracey’s career has taken her all over the world, and she attributes her appetite for adventure and travel to the self confidence and determination that flourished at Walker’s.

To ensure that other girls can have the same life-changing experiences and opportunities that she had, Tracey has included a bequest in her estate plan to benefit future students. “When I reconnected with classmates at our 20th reunion, I realized how special the women I went to school with were — who they had become and how they were navigating life — and I want other girls to be able to have that.”

“At Walker’s, I was exposed to a way of learning that didn’t exist at home,” Tracey says. “And the most important part of that was learning how to learn and to apply curiosity to all of my endeavors.”

Tracey encourages others to consider the legacy they could leave to support future generations. “The process of creating a will allowed me to think about what really matters in my life,” she concludes. “Walker’s really matters. The health and wellness of the institution matters, and I want to be sure that my legacy is part of that health and wellness.”
